Workers are being forced to work in the World Cup in Qatar

European countries' objections to the Qatar World Cup are nothing new.  Many are angry at FIFA for hosting the World Cup in the Middle East, claiming that human rights are being violated.

Despite all the criticism, the World Cup will be held in Qatar next November.  Human rights group Amnesty International has claimed that some non-governmental organizations are torturing workers during the World Cup in Qatar.  The treatment of migrant workers is subject to forced labor.

Amnesty International has published a report.  Below are the magnetic part of the report published on their website.

"Amnesty International has observed that security personnel working in Qatar, including those involved in the 2022 World Cup project, have been forced to work in an environment where they have been forced to work."

The agency said in a new report that it had recorded the experiences of 34 current and former employees of eight security agencies in Qatar.  They often spend months or even years without a holiday.

Most said that their employers did not agree to take weekly leave under Qatari law, and that workers who took leave were penalized for their pay.  As one person described in his first year in Qatar, "the worthy survive."

Stephen Cockburn, Amnesty International's head of financial and social justice, said:  This means that the authorities have not yet fully implemented the labor law.  The security guards we spoke to knew they were breaking employers' rules.  But they did not have the power to protest.  Physically and mentally disturbed workers used to come to work every day.  Because, if they did not do so, they would be punished financially.  The fear of canceling the agreement or being sent back to the country is even more terrible. '

‘Qatar has made a lot of progress in the last few years, but in our research we have found many examples of oppression.  The demand of the private sector for the World Cup has increased a lot, will increase further.  Employers are still openly exploiting workers.  Authorities must come forward to protect the workers and punish the accused.  With the World Cup just a few months away, FIFA will have to step up its vigilance to prevent such atrocities.  Otherwise, such an incident will put ink on the body of this tournament. '

And FIFA should use its power to pressure Qatar.  As if Qatar were enforcing its own laws better.  Time is passing very fast.  If it is not practiced properly yet, the persecution will continue even after the fans (watching the World Cup) return home. '

FIFA has said it will sit down with Amnesty International on human rights in Qatar.  During the World Cup and the Arab Cup, the contractors who did not work properly were identified and action was taken immediately. '
